Supposedly Patrick Brunty admired the great British Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 1st Duke of Bronté, and changed his name to honor Nelson. That would also explain the accent mark, since the King of the Two Sicilies, Ferdinand, created Nelson a Duke in appreciation for his victory over the French at the Battle of the Nile, in 1798. Career as Clergyman

The article as I found it implies he was a curate all his working life. In fact, taking cue from his entry in Venn (already a linked citation), he was a curate up to 1820 when he became Vicar (abbreviated "V" in Venn) of Haworth, not perpetual curate. Immediately prior he was Perpetual Curate ("P.C." in Venn) of Thornton-le-Dale. I have changed his introductory description to read clergyman, not curate.Cloptonson (talk) 21:23, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Small Edit Made

I updated the expired link in the External Sources section to the current site but it is now purple, not blue like the other external links. Review

I have no serious quibbles or queries. Some of your phrasing is not how I would have phrased it, but that is entirely beside the point. You could be consistent about giving or not giving saints a full stop after "St"; I'm not sure "Death of Maria Branwell" is an ideal header for a section dealing with the death of Maria Brontë; and I'm blest I can see why "prejudice" needs a blue link, and in Further reading you might blue link Lord Briggs. But I don't press any of these points. Personally I could do without the list of actors who have played Patrick, but I don't feel strongly about the matter.

You seem to have researched widely and marshalled your facts methodically. I was pleased to find among the (many) things I didn't know about the Brontës, in particular Patrick's persistent Irish accent and Mrs Gaskell's bizarre misrepresentations of him.
