Possible COI

[edit]

There is a discussion here regarding possible COI by the creator of this article, premised on in-real-life engagement between Ms. Dietrich and the editor. On the basis that this article is nonetheless worthy of inclusion, I have made revisions to try to reduce some of the promotional tone. Oblivy (talk) 01:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Registered Trademark and 2026 evolution of the PESO Model

[edit]

Hello,

I am requesting the following changes to this page:

- Add the registered trademark symbol after the first mention of The PESO Model®

- Acknowledge that it was created by Gini Dietrich. This is intellectual property similar to an artist's music, movie, art, etc. and attribution should be included as such.

- There are factual issues with the descriptions of the four channels. The most severe being that "branded social channels" do not count as Owned Content. Email newsletters could be added to that portion.

- Secondly, including examples on the Earned media description like newspaper articles, podcasts, television appearances, etc. might be helpful to be more clear about what constitutes Earned Media.

- Lastly, in 2026 The PESO Model evolved to match changing trends in the PR and Marketing industry, including AI, to become the PESO Model Operating System®. This is an important distinction because communications professionals can no longer rely on simply knowing the four channels or having activity in each. True integrated marketing requires far more.

- I'm not sure on the rules for citations, but again since this is intellectual property I would think the Spin Sucks website should be listed as a reference, not just an External Link.

Thank you for your consideration!

Best,

Aquila Aquilamv (talk) 17:10, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Per MOS:TRADEMARK we do not display such symbols on Wikipedia.
As you are no doubt aware, there is a dispute about who created this model. Wikipedia cannot simply take a side based on self published posts or websites from one of the disputants.
If secondary, reliable sources are discussing your company's new operating system product, Wikipedia might as well. But again, not based on self published sourcing. MrOllie (talk) 22:43, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree with the above - because of the dispute over who created it assigning credit to Ms. Dietrich would be irresponsible without a secondary source (and not just one that quotes her). Other claims require a reliable source. Note that the USPTO does not list PESO Model Operating System as a registered trademark in any class. Oblivy (talk) 01:39, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello! There is not a dispute to our knowledge, and even a quick Google search for "who created the PESO Model" only indicates Gini as the creator. If you have evidence of an issue please do let us know so we can notify our legal team. For a third party reference indicating Gini as the creator, please see this article on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbescommunicationscouncil/2022/11/09/what-is-the-peso-model-in-marketing/ and happy to provide various other references.
For a third party reference of the Operating System evolution please see this article here: https://pr.co/blog/the-peso-model Aquilamv (talk) 19:06, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
You should ask your boss who 'Don Bartholomew' was. There absolutely is a dispute about this, even if you happen to be personally ignorant about it.
Forbes councils are essentially self-published (see WP:FORBESCON) and are generally not usable as sources. Your other blog link has the same issue. MrOllie (talk) 19:17, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
