BASE (search engine)

Oa01, as far as I can see from our article and from BASE's "about" page, this search engine indexes "academic web resources" of which "about 60% of the indexed documents" can be accessed "for free (Open Access)". Meaning that 40% are not OA... Therefore it appears to me that the number of sources it indexes for a given country may be quite irrelevant and not be a reliable indication of the actual number of OA sources available in that country. It only indicates that there are at least that number of sources available for which the metadata are OAI-PMH-compliant, nothing more. There are apparently non-OA sources included in BASE that also are OAI-PMH-compliant. Given all these uncertainties, I think the last sentence of the lead should be removed (and also from all the other articles in which it has been inserted). --Randykitty (talk) 20:41, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
