He is listed as a co-founder in the article. If you say that because you didn't see him in the infobox, there is actually a note that lists the remaining co-founders, including Karpathy. Maybe it would be better for the infobox to be exhaustive than to have half of the list in a "Notes" section though. Alenoach (talk) 04:35, 10 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
2026 cyberattacks and Navier-Stokes problem in lead
Latest comment: 1 month ago5 comments3 people in discussion
I disagree on both counts. I think the lead should be proportioned by how many characters the article spends covering the issues. Our opinions about if they are major should not guide this. Lead inclusion is not determined by notability according to the guidelines. Czarking0 (talk) 02:17, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Then you shouldn't be deleting where the article covers this? WP:LEAD is literally determined by "most important contents". I'm adding it back as two lines for now. Doeze (talk) 11:57, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Australian government investigation into alleged OpenAI hacking
Latest comment: 24 days ago1 comment1 person in discussion
There's now reportedly the first known case of AI hacking a government network with an OpenAI agent gaining unauthorised access to a Medicare portal. OpenAI did not notify Australian government until September, approx three months after the hack. Forensic investigations are underway with a new taskforce created to counter these issues. News only came out today but seems significant and may warrant inclusion given the ongoing government investigation and potential legal ramifications, tho details are still being investigated. Suggested changes to issues and controversies on this page
Latest comment: 9 days ago1 comment1 person in discussion
I have observed that on this page there is a little bit of mess with controversies and legal issues. Currently, under "Governence and legal issues" governance controversies and lawsuits against OpenAI are grouped together with lobbying for AI regulations and policies by OpenAI or its employees. Some controversies like "Military and Warfare" are not controversial from the legal point of view, but highly controversial from the ethical point of view. There is one controversy related to exploitation of citizens of developing countries for dataset labeling under "Business model". I propose the following changes:
Create a section "AI policy lobbying" or similar to describe lobbying activities.
In "Governence and legal issues", leave only controversies clearly related to lawsuits, legal issues or authorities investgations against OpenAI.
Make a section called "Another controversies" for issues that are legally permissible but ethically controversial: exploitation, military & warfare, Navier-Stokes controversy, and recent irresponsible scientific publishing.
Merge "Unauthorized hacks" into a subsection "Governence and legal issues"-it is clearly related to illegal activities and is quite short as a separate subsection, both hacking incidents have their own main articles.
