1.16 version split
[edit]In the infobox, lowkey's WR is under the 1.16-1.19 category while in the body it says 1.16+. The run is in the speedrun.com category 1.16-1.19 but RSG runs in that category also includes 1.20+, the version split is only in effect for set seed runs. Should it be 1.16+ or 1.16-1.19. Depolar (talk) 03:17, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
- i think it should stay as 1.16-1.19 as that is what speedrun.com knows it as, but colloquially in the mcsr community it is just known as 1.16.1, as it is impossible to get anywhere close to a top time in any other version in the category. every run in the top 1000 at least (on https://www.speedrun.com/mc) is on 1.16.1. i vote "1.16-1.19" as that is what it is on speedrun.com, as well as the fact that "1.16+" is never even used in conversation, just used to indicate when the game progressed in its updates. (e.g. netherite only exists in 1.16+) Willunderscoremp3 (talk) 07:42, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Willunderscoremp3 Okay listen listen while I totally agree with you on this, weee should have come to an agreement before making any changes. I'm not gonna revert it since she hasn't responded yet, but also something to keep in mind in the future lolollove the energy though ..! pattersonuwu njz (talk) 08:05, 17 June 2026 (UTC)

world record addition - on verification, or put as 'pending'
[edit]skycrab just broke the wr about an hour ago, should the new edit list the record as 'pending,' or should it just wait until its verified on speedrun.com? wr video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NemhyWVAY68 cloudseyy 🦋 19:48, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry, never saw this. Seeing as one of the most fundamental (not really) guidelines of wikipedia is Each fact or claim in an article must be verifiable, and that run is literally unverified, lets wait until it's verified by the mods. Of course, if the run received media coverage from a reliable secondary source, it could be added for that, but I don't think any reliable source would be covering an unverified run. Also tagging @Dwarfroe cause they've been reverting changes like this pattersonuwu njz (talk) 10:23, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
Replacing image at top of article
[edit]IMO it's really hard to get a good visual aid out of a WR screenshot, especially with the super low quality required by non-free images, so I was thinking of making a graph to show the world record progression. What do you think? (call dibs on that idea btw im already making the graph) @Dwarfoe pattersonuwu njz (talk) 02:21, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Pattersonuwu: I think that, if an image is in the infobox, it should be the End fight, as it's probably one of the most iconic and recognizable parts of speedrunning imo. The Super Mario Bros. speedrunning article, the only other "[Game] speedrunning" article on Wikipedia, also incorporates an image of an iconic strategy used. As for the graph, that'd be cool. The MCSR article, back when it was first created, originally had a table of the world record progression, similar to that of the SMB page, but it was removed due to a lack of reliable sources. - dwarfroe (talk / contr) 03:06, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeahh, thinking about it now SRC probably not reliable enough for historical data right? (Plus not gonna lie the article looks bland without the screenshot) pattersonuwu njz (talk) 05:34, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
- okay wait it looks kinda awesome down there pattersonuwu njz (talk) 18:06, 27 August 2026 (UTC)
