This article looks to be a good summary of recent research on propranolol-related fear memory erasure, with links to WP:MEDRS that might be useful for expanding this article. -- The Anome (talk) 14:08, 14 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Strange Inclusion in Intro

[edit]

"The possibility of memory erasure feasibly permits spontaneous achievement of World Peace as a merely wealthy individual could manufacture an amnesic drug that rids the patient of fear of others. Such a drug, when made available to the general public, would surely become popular and would lead to an instantaneous and bloodless conclusion to war and conflict worldwide."

No citation is present for this and it appears to be essentially somebody's personal speculation. I'd advocate for this to be removed from the article; It seem to be the only widely available mention of the concept, and also appears to be altering search results about the topic.

If anyone has alternatives for simply altering this paragraph I'm open to it, but without a citation it seems extremely out of place. Botanicachan (talk) 01:39, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Dubious sources cited

[edit]

Reference [5] concerns energy psychology and generalised efficacy, but does not appear to directly support the claim that these practices can help people forget or erase memories.

Additionally, parts of this reference were challenged in https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22122623/ and https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22122622/

Also considering the poor writing of this paragraph, I believe it should be replaced with higher quality, better supported information about the study of memory in psychiatry. PhantasmalTaffy (talk) 12:53, 13 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
