Burns, Robert I. (1984). Muslims Christians, and Jews in the Crusader Kingdom of Valencia. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. ISBN0-521-24374-2.—Discusses the composition and possible redaction of the Llibre. Other sources will likely be needed to expand on this, but this one seems important. See Appendix I (pp. 285-288). So editor Spookyaki has added several tags to the page, with comments like "Okay, I actually think this predates AI, but very weird nonetheless", after removing an "AI-generated" tag. Most of the content was added in 2017, long before anything resembling LLMs were available to the public. The content was added by a Catalan resident of Spain whose native tongues are Catalan and Spanish. I'm not sure what Spookyaki's purpose is here, but I think their pseudo-analysis and addition of the tags is "weird". They insult the good-faith work of an editor doing the best they can, who added intelligible, correct information to the article. Are they trying to drive away other editors who write in English as a second language? Their haste to add the "AI-generated" tag is a good example of the ongoing deletionist drive, more of a frenzy, really, to add this tag to articles that an editor thinks "might" contain such content. This overreaction is damaging the encyclopedia as much as any LLM-generated text. Carlstak (talk) 14:07, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I apologize for using unkind language in my edit summaries and jumping to conclusions about AI. The use of lists + lack of citations + argumentative structure of the text seemed like "obvious" tells, but I should have checked the edit summaries before adding the tag. I do still think that all of my other tags hold: the article does require cleanup, more citations, and less essay-like content, but I shouldn't have been so judgemental about it, especially if, as you say, the editor in question does not speak English as a first language. What are the odds that you will do something to help fix those problems? I'm working on another article, doing a lot of reading, and I don't have time to work on this now. The revision history shows that I collaborated with the Catalan editor to fix some issues. I had been very impressed by his response when I engaged with him on another talk page about his adding outraged comments, in all-caps, concerning English WP. Rather than starting a long-winded conversation about his complaints, he added most of the content of this article. I respect that. Carlstak (talk) 17:55, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
This isn't really my area of expertise or interest (which is why I added the tags), but I can make some adjustments to the formatting and see if I can add some citations. That's probably only fair. Spookyaki (talk) 18:02, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, did some reorganization. Also attempted to add sources, but this basically confirmed what I thought originally: I am not qualified, and would likely make the article worse if I tried. I will add some more refideas in case anyone else is able to do so. Spookyaki (talk) 19:01, 7 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply, Spookyaki, and your edits are appreciated. I'm familiar with the subject, and hope to eventually work on the article. I've actually got docs already in the works for another article that touches on some aspects of the history of the Crown of Aragon and James I, if only indirectly. That work has been stalled since forever, though. Maybe working on this one, whenever that may be, will give me impetus to finish the larger article. Carlstak (talk) 15:10, 8 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
