Request to review lead image – Learjet 60

[edit]

Hello,

I am posting on behalf of VistaJet and would like to disclose my affiliation with the company.

We noticed that the lead photograph in the Learjet 60 article features an aircraft previously operated by VistaJet (registration OE-GTF) and dates back to 2007.

While the photograph is historically accurate, VistaJet no longer operates the Learjet 60. The underlying image description identifies VistaJet as the operator without making clear that this is historical.

We appreciate that Wikipedia is an independent encyclopedia and that historical photographs can be appropriate illustrations of aircraft types. However, we would be grateful if independent editors could consider whether an alternative photograph of the Learjet 60 might be more suitable as the lead image, particularly to avoid any potential confusion about VistaJet's current fleet.

Alternatively, we would welcome clarification of the image description to indicate that VistaJet was the operator at the time the photograph was taken in 2007.

Sources confirming VistaJet no longer operates the Learjet 60:

We recognise that any decision about the image rests with Wikipedia's editorial community and appreciate your consideration. Rward912 (talk) 17:38, 3 November 2026 (UTC)Reply

Contradictions in the article

[edit]

Hi,

I would like to point out some contradictions within the article. Could someone please find the correct information, update, and cite?

  • General information says “Number built” is 429, but Development lists 318 Model 60s, and the 60XR section lists 112 Model 60XRs in service—a combined 430. The 318 figure appears to exclude the XR variant, but the combined total still conflicts.
  • History says production continued through 2012, Development says it ended in 2007, and the 60XR section says 2013. The 2007 date appears to apply only to the original Model 60, but 2012 versus 2013 remains inconsistent.
  • The introduction gives a range of 2,405 nautical miles, Specifications gives 2,410, and the 60XR section gives 2,240.
  • The 60XR section gives cruise speeds of 440 knots, 436 knots, and 387–420 knots, while Specifications lists 421, 454, and 466 knots.
  • The Nov 1 incident states that the aircraft made a descending right-hand turn at an increasing rate of over 30,000 feet, per minute, but the copilot stated in the call that it was 22,000 fpm.

I'm not the right person to correct these contradictions, but I wanted to point them out in case an expert on this subject happens to be making edits. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to confirm these details.

My heart goes out to the loved ones of those who were in the recent accident. HelloKatEye (talk) 00:57, 4 November 2026 (UTC)Reply
