Last pharmacy
[edit]Last Kmart pharmacy closed as per this link. Im unable to edit so can someone with an account, make this edit? https://newsfeed.wtjx.org/2025-09-18/kmart-pharmacy-in-tutu-park-mall-on-st-thomas-closes-customers-and-staff-transition-to-walgreens 174.213.162.28 (talk) 21:07, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- I honestly don't see a reason as to include this in the main article, so I won't edit. Sorry, Nihilist2345 (talk) 16:11, 24 December 2025 (UTC)
- Any reason why not? Kmart had a significant pharmacy presense at 1 point so it seems relevant that the last location closed. Since you didn't edit it, maybe someone with editing privileges will. Seems the article is protected so I can't do it. ~2026-34171-05 (talk) 20:52, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
- I agree with user:Nihilist2345. I don't see any need to mention this in the article either. And for that matter, the claim that this was the last Kmart pharmacy is incorrect. According to the sources in our article all three of the remaining stores have pharmacies. Meters (talk) 22:01, 10 June 2026 (UTC)
- Check this source. It specifically mentions that this is the "last" kmart pharmacy that closed.
- Specifially: "On it was a letter signed by Dr. Aya Assebian and “The Grateful Staff of the Last Kmart Pharmacy Standing.”
- If y'all don't want to add it so be it, but to write that all 3 remaining Kmarts have pharmacies, is incorrect. There is no source that states that. This is the source regarding the final 1 closing: https://newsfeed.wtjx.org/2025-09-18/kmart-pharmacy-in-tutu-park-mall-on-st-thomas-closes-customers-and-staff-transition-to-walgreens ~2026-34171-05 (talk) 00:33, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- That seems to be a valid RS, stating the last location closed. Whether or not it's noteworthy (I find that it is), another story ~2026-34518-53 (talk) 11:38, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- Also from that source: “This is not the story of a sinking ship but of Turning Tides; which will be the beginning of a new chapter. As the Last Kmart Pharmacy closes its doors, our commitment to you continues.”Italic text ~2026-34171-05 (talk) 00:34, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- Lastly, I realize Reddit isn't a valid source, but to be clear, there are no pharmacies from Kmart remaining as of 2025: https://www.reddit.com/r/kmart/comments/1nlmdcs/rip_kmart_pharmacy_19622025/ ~2026-34171-05 (talk) 00:36, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- I know what your source says. I read it when you added it to the article. Again,
According to the sources in our article all three of the remaining stores have pharmacies.
As of yesterday, our article's sources (the store finder) showed that there were still three open stores that had pharmacies. So, we have conflicting sources. For that matter, as I've already said, and as user:Nihilist2345 has said, there's no need to mention the last Kmart pharmacy in the article. Please drop this. Meters (talk) 19:45, 12 June 2026 (UTC)- I don't have to drop anything. Free country, I can write my opinion on the article, as you can. Do not Tell me what to do. Who are you?
- Store finder, LOL. That store finder at kmart's site, has not been accurate since the last Obama administration, lol. At least since 2015. Keep thinking there are 3 pharmacies, I couldn't care less. But as per the source, there are now zero. ~2026-34518-53 (talk) 13:22, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
- Your source only applies to the Kmart store in St.Thomas. It doesn't say anywhere that the pharmacy closed in Guam. By "Last Kmart Pharmacy Standing" it's very possible that Dr. Aya Assebian was referring to the operations in the Virgin Islands only, not Kmart as a whole. ~2026-47009-18 (talk) 14:37, 3 September 2026 (UTC)

The defunct date should be removed from the infobox. Kmart obviously isn't defunct. There is no clear evidence that the legal company became defunct instead of being a subsidiary when it became part of Sears Holdings. This 2005 defunct thing seems to be the choice of one editor and shouldn't be on the infobox without a source at the very least. ~2026-51981-17 (talk) 12:55, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want made. Day Creature (talk) 16:52, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
- Your answer doesn't make sense. Why should I provide a source when the burden of providing a source is on the person that is adding the unsourced content, not on the person that is removing it? I'm going to make another request because it doesn't seem that you understand this edit request or know what you're talking about. ~2026-51981-17 (talk) 01:29, 14 October 2026 (UTC)

This edit should be reverted as it is totally unsourced (at least the part about the company being defunct). ~2026-51981-17 (talk) 01:36, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
Done Recent change undone as having been challenged. Any discussion should take place on this page. Meters (talk) 01:49, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- Meters, that isn't a recent change in my book. It is four months old. Not only that, but the original S. S. Kresge Corporation/K Mart Corporation/Kmart Corporation became defunct when Kmart and Sears merged in 2005. That is why there is two founding dates.
- The IP claims it is "totally unsourced" because they have not considered MOS:SCROLLDOWN as the citations could be found in the 2002–2009: First bankruptcy and merger with Sears section. Even the current owners of Kmart consider that the corporation ceased to exist in 2005. --Super Goku V (talk) 03:21, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- "Recent" is relative. A 2026 edit related to something from 2006 counts as recent to me, even if it is four months old, and the TA has objected to the original edit. I'm not taking a position on which version is correct. As I said in my edit summary, "undone pending discussion. Challenged via edit request", and as I said above

Have your discussion and see what consensus is. Meters (talk) 23:27, 14 October 2026 (UTC)- Very well on the related part. What are your thoughts then? Would you say this is similar enough to situations like Viacom (2005–2019) to restore? --Super Goku V (talk) 23:35, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to agree that we should include the 2005 end date (I was mistaken above where I wrote "2006), but I'd like to see the TA's explanation, and there seems to be a bit of a disconnect in the article. Is the article (and the infobox) about the corporation, or the brand? We seem to be following the history of the Kmart-branded stores regardless of the corporate owner (pre KMart Kresge, KMart, Sears Holdings, and finally Transformco). If we include the 2005 end date, should the infobox also mention the 2019 Transformco takeover? Meters (talk) 23:59, 14 October 2026 (UTC)
- I agree with waiting for the TA since they could have a better reason for removing this.
- My understanding is that after the split attempt that didn't happen, this article would continue to cover both the corporation and the brand, but I could be mistaken. (It doesn't help that Kmart Corporation got folded into Sears Holdings Corporation in the first few years of this article existing.) --Super Goku V (talk) 00:48, 15 October 2026 (UTC)
- If there is 2005 defunct date on the infobox, I think there should be a source next to it. The sources about this in the 2002-2009 section are relatively well hidden on the page and it isn't that obvious the company died instead of becoming a subsidiary in 2005. True, it isn't required to have sources in the lead/infobox when they are in the body. But when something is questionable or controversial, it doesn't hurt of adding references on the infobox. ~2026-51981-17 (talk) 02:02, 15 October 2026 (UTC)
- Very well, it can have a source if it gets restored. Just to make sure, are you okay with the date being restored? --Super Goku V (talk) 11:26, 17 October 2026 (UTC)
- Absolutely. If it actually is a defunct company and there's a source on the infobox that clearly says so, there's no reason for me to be opposed to it. You can even do it on the Sears article if you want. The same editor had done that edit on Sears and it was reverted for the same reason. ~2026-51981-17 (talk) 16:27, 17 October 2026 (UTC)

[edit]As of 2026, there are three remaining Kmart locations: a big-box department store in Charlotte Amalie, the US Virgin Islands, a big-box store in Tamuning, Guam, and a smaller location in Kendale Lakes, Florida.[1]
How exactly do sources from 2024 and 2022 provide citation for what's going on in 2026? ~2026-57611-38 (talk) 21:52, 28 October 2026 (UTC)
- If you have updated sourcing please present it. MrOllie (talk) 21:59, 28 October 2026 (UTC)
- There isn't an updated source, the claim shouldn't be there because it's not supported by the citations attached to it. ~2026-57611-38 (talk) 08:08, 29 October 2026 (UTC)
