Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Kenneth Megill. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Failed verifications

[edit]

The citations for three of the activities in Megill's post trade-union career have been marked as failed verification (and it looks as though whoever added those citations was just linking institutions or publications rather than anything actually mentioning Megill). Megill does claim a role in the creation of the NEA's Thought and Action in his CV, which indicates that there may possibly be a reliable source that supports that claim, if we can find it. Megill does not mention the other two instances in his on-line biography, and I suspect that the person who developed the tow truck driver's education program may have been another Ken Megill, although I did not find anything in a Google search. The Human Rights Campaign Fund sounds like something Megill may have worked on, but, again, I found nothing in an admittantly brief Google search. I think the mention of his involvement with the tow truck driver's association should be removed from the article, and possibly also his involvement with the Human Rights Campaign Fund. I will refrain from doing so because I was acquainted with him many years ago, and am trying to adhere to a strict interpretation of the COI policy. Donald Albury 13:41, 8 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Donald Albury: Thank you for posting here. With a bit more googling I found this page from Megill's own website; the links there are clearly the source for the whole of the "Political activist and trade unionist" section. Given that, I see no reason to remove anything. Independent sources would be better, of course, but links to the pages at www.kennethmegill.com would at least allow the reader to see where the information has come from. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:47, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Since none of those items are essential to establishing his notability, WP:ABOUTSELF applies and we can use his website. I was a bit surprised that an association of tow truck drivers had hired him, based on what I knew of him when he was at the University of Florida, but that was a long time ago, and my acquaintance was limited.
