Notability

I'm an anonymous user who cites the use of this word by th United Nations. I don't want to remove the notice seeking better sources as anonymous but I think the notice should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.40.193.119 (talk) 17:16, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

I have to agree with the above. There is a lot of mostly health related information using the term "infodemic", which is mainly related to COVID-19, natually. And this is in legitimate publications. (AbrewaAccraLady (talk) 13:40, 24 February 2021 (UTC))

I have added a few sources. Importantly, a UN report and a peer-reviewed journal both use the term "Infodemic" (The peer-reviewed journal uses it in the title). User:JPxG has added a notability tag to the article. A quick search of the term "infodemic" on Google Scholar returns multiple hits to peer-reviewed journals using the word "infodemic" in the title. The United Nation and World Health Organization both have used the term. I added a few sources in July, and I think the notice is unwarranted. How many additional journal articles are necessary to meet the definition of "notable?" GeogSage (talk) 04:16, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

Format problems

COI edit request: § Research during COVID-19 omits how the circulation was measured

I have a conflict of interest here and am requesting rather than making this edit.

The issue: The § Research during COVID-19 section opens with an unsourced sentence, "As COVID-19 swept across the globe, information about how to stay safe and how to identify symptoms became vital." The section then covers only two topics: the cartographic quality of government COVID-19 dashboards and the reliability of systematic reviews. A section titled "Research during COVID-19" that says nothing about the collection of social media data is incomplete on its own terms, since the empirical study of the COVID-19 infodemic was carried out largely on archives of social media posts. The article defines an infodemic as an over-abundance of information circulating in digital environments but never says how that circulation was measured.

Proposed change: Add the following sentence immediately after the sentence ending "There was also a proliferation of systematic reviews of COVID-19-related evidence, not all of which was robustly conducted." and its reference, in the § Research during COVID-19 section:
