I recall reading that Serling received a lot of mail for this episode, criticising him for portraying Hitler as unsympathetic(!?). If that can be sourced it seems notable for inclusion. -- Irrevenant [ talk ] 22:37, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

It would be good to add that to the article if you can find a reliable reference. This is one of the more overtly political Twilight Zones episodes, and I suspect that some people were motivated to respond one way or another.

Article may need revision

The version I just watched on Prime streaming included a dramatic Hitler reveal around the 40:36 mark. The article states the footage of the Hitler reveal had been lost but is apparently included in this hourlong version.

The Dennis Hopper character appears to react with revulsion and for a moment it seems he might repudiate his vitriolic politics when faced with their monstrous inspiration but he then seems strangely strengthened in his resolve. You’re referencing the shortened version. As said in the article, the footage following the revelation of Hitler’s identity is the footage that was lost. In its only form, Vollmer flees Hitler, but later returns to be instructed to murder Ernst.
