Gebran Gerge Bassil is a Lebanese politician who serves as the president of the Free Patriotic Movement since 2015, succeeding its founder Michel Aoun, as well as the Strong Lebanon Bloc in the Parliament of Lebanon, the biggest Christian Parliamentary block. **Issue:**  

The current lead contains the phrase:  

> “…most hated man in Lebanon…”  

This wording:  

- Stated in Wikipedia’s own voice (rather than attributed),

- Not supported by high-quality reliable sources,

- one of the 3 provided sources used the lead “…most hated man in Lebanon…” but for saying that it is not true,

- a second source is an article talking about the bullying that happened for the son of Gebran Bassil regarding this lead and caused him a critical mental issues, and

- Potentially a violation of the Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy because it is a contentious claim about a living person.  

**Proposed change:**  

Replace the phrase with:  

> “Bassil has been a polarizing figure in Lebanese politics and has faced widespread criticism, particularly over his alliances and political positions.”
