List of Episodes

[edit]

I think it may be worth it to move the list of episodes into its own article as it is growing a lot. At the end of its current season, there will be a total of 70 episodes. Let me know what you guys think. Tarna652 (talk) 18:49, 14 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think this is definitely worth doing once the current season finishes. IzzySwag (talk) 17:38, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Since the current season is finished, and if this is decided to be done, should this be done now or wait till before the next season starts to move it over. Tarna652 (talk) 03:14, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think it's better to do it now rather than waiting til next season. IzzySwag (talk) 03:17, 3 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Plot Summary

[edit]

User:Cyberlink420 and User:Sariel_Xilo, the core premise of the episode does not include the fact the scores will be updated after the fact. That is not part of the core premise. All of them just list the core premise of the episode and not any updates that will happen. Most of them don't even mention who will win. The inclusion of this goes against both MOS:TVPLOT and MOS:TVEPISODE. Please point to wikipedia policy for inclusion, a source for how this update is of note, or prove that it is more relevant than it seems to be. Because, currently, it is just bloating the article with a fact that will have to be removed in one months time. See WP:10YEARS. When people 10 years from now see this article with the note "this episode was updated a month after release", will they be confused? Certainly! It is wildly out of place in the article. You are giving undue weight onto that update because it is WP:RECENT. IzzySwag (talk) 20:12, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also, your recent update places emphsis on the winner of the episode. None of the other episode summaries give information on who won. If you want to add a winner box for each episode, and place in a note that the episode's winner is TBA, then please do so! But otherwise, adding the results of this episode but not to ANY other episode is wildly out of place. IzzySwag (talk) 20:13, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
It's because it IS relevant to the plot. It's the entire premise of the game, which is what the episode summaries are. I even rephrased it to be closer to how they explained it in the show. There's even room to further refine it, like "The players participate in a Shark Tank-like show, taking pitches from multiple different guests to create the most viral videos, and are scored based on each video's view count one month after the episode's release." I'm not trying to list the winner, I'm listing an explanation of the rules and scoring system of that episode's game, same as every other plot summary on this page; I don't see how this one is different. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 20:19, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Cyberlink420 that this is part of the episode's premise so should be in the plot summary (and I don't have preference on the exact phrasing outside of it should be included). Looking directly at the episode, Sam Reich (at 02:17) states "The producer to fund the ideas with the most social video views wins the episode. Of course, we won't know who that is until a month after this episode airs and all the clips have been posted" and then throughout the episode (example at 09:39), it shows the stats for each clip with text such as "First Week Views" & "Check Back in 1 month to see final results". So rather than going against either MOS:TVPLOT or MOS:TVEPISODE, I think it actually fulfills MOS:TVPLOT in terms of "Plot summaries provide context" & "Plot sections should summarize the core storyline(s)" as it highlights a key part of the premise (the initial version of the episode aired on July 14 but the episode will be updated with ongoing results until on X time). I also don't think the WP:RECENTISM essay is relevant (again, because the episode being changed with the winner determined at a later date is part of the basic premise). Sariel Xilo (talk) 20:59, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Cyberlink420 I agree with Cyberlink420. Also, some people on here need to chill and just be kinder. We're all trying our best. Twistybrastrap (talk) 04:42, 5 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

FYI, as of today (I believe I got the notification on my phone around 1:30pm EDT), the "Fool's Gold" episode has been updated with the results/statistics, along with the winner at the end of the episode. Magitroopa (talk) 18:03, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Incidentally, I'd argue the plot summary should say "one week" instead of "one month". While the results were published one month after the episode's premiere, the players were scored based on how many views each video received in the first week. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 21:46, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Cyberlink is right, I double checked the episode myself. It should say week. IzzySwag (talk) 22:26, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Adding "Game Creator/Writer" Column for Season 7?

[edit]

I've noticed in the credits for season 7 episodes that they credit the specific writer - out of the season's team of 15 writers - who pitched the game, and I'm wondering if this is a thing that can be added to season 7's episode infoboxes.

Most of them are from Sam Reich, but "You-lympics" and "One and Done" were both pitched (and - according to the behind-the-scenes episode - primarily written by) Ryan Creamer, "Crowd Control" was co-written by Reich and Chris Grace, "The Drinking Game" came from Tiny Idea (Hrannar Bjornsson, Ann Nelson, and Eva Nemiroff's sketch team), and last night's "Who Wants to Be..." was written by Tao Yang and Alexis Rhiannon in addition to Reich. Is this something that could be reflected? ChessPiece21 (talk) 16:17, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

It makes sense to me to add it if the credits are being specific; Template:Episode table has a "writer" col so it shouldn't be hard to update the table format. Sariel Xilo (talk) 16:21, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Potential S7 E11

[edit]

It looks like there is a confirmed Game Changer ARG which seems to indicate that if a 100,000 people go to the final website & put in a code, an 11th episode for season 7 will be released. The only coverage I've found so far is from an ARG focused blog site & reddit; if this actually leads to a new episode, I'm assuming RS will cover it. But wanted to put it on the radar in case anyone sees it get covered by a source we can actually use. Thanks! Sariel Xilo (talk) 17:50, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Came here to discuss this too. This will definitely be covered by a more reliable source that blog sites/reddit by the time the episode actually comes out. Let's leave the page unchanged until those reliable sources appear. IzzySwag (talk) 19:53, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
The target has been reached, and the website now displays the message that Sam will be broadcasting on Instagram August 25th at 11AM EST regarding the "false rumors of an 11th episode". It's unlikely any RSes will appear until then, so I think we're all in agreement that any attempts to acknowledge it should be left off the page for the time being. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 11:45, 16 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yup! There is no deadline on wikipedia, after all. IzzySwag (talk) 16:08, 16 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Here we go... episode 11, "Samalamadingdong", hosted by Brennan Lee Mulligan with Sam as contestant is up now! Magitroopa (talk) 17:31, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also noting that the email regarding it just went out as well, calling it, "The REAL finale of Game Changer season 7". Magitroopa (talk) 17:39, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also, just a kind reminder that before we add anything about the ARG into the Production section, remember that we should still wait for a reliable source to cover it! There will be one in due time. IzzySwag (talk) 18:23, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
About to take a look through it myself, but this Variety article seems like it'll be a reliable source with information to use regarding the episode. Magitroopa (talk) 19:23, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yup! Variety is a great source. I can't read the article yet cause I don't want to get spoiled on the episode but I assume whatever's in there is good for inclusion. :) IzzySwag (talk) 20:12, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Who Wants to Be...?" / "Who Wants to Be Jacob Wysocki?" cast

[edit]

So in episode credits, the contestants for each episode are credited under 'Contestants'- in regards to this episode, only Jacob (Wysocki) is credited as 'Contestant', while Kimia (Behpoornia), Jeremy (Culhane), and Kurt (Maloney) are credited under 'Guest Cast' for this episode. Is there any sort of formatting that can be done regarding this? Knowing how this episode was set up (even as evidenced by the source within the episode summary here) and seeing how they are credited, Jacob would technically be the only name that should be listed as the column is titled 'Contestants'... thoughts? Magitroopa (talk) 17:21, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

So this is an interesting one because it's the exact opposite situation of "The Bachelor", where Ally Beardsley and Jess Ross are also credited as contestants but we don't list them as such. And unfortunately, the preceding episode in this style, "Don't Cry", was released before they began including episode credits, so we have no firm precedent to cite there. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 17:29, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I do think Jacob should be the only one credited considering Kimia, Jeremy, and Kurt were in on the whole thing. IzzySwag (talk) 18:21, 25 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Noise Some Makes" contestants

[edit]

How should we go about handling who the contestants are for the latest episode? I only listed Josh/Zac/Brennan initially as per the end credits. I presume the others could also be considered contestants for the episode, despite what the end credits list?...

For reference, as per the end credits:

  • Brennan Lee Mulligan, Zac Oyama, Josh Ruben - Contestants
  • Lisa Hanawalt, Kiana Khansmith, Caldwell Tanner - Artists
  • Lily Du, Jess Ross, Jordan Myrick - Guessers
  • Kaylin Mahoney - Additional Contestant

Any thoughts on how we should handle this?... Magitroopa (talk) 23:40, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Episode concept

[edit]

I added an "Episode concept" field to the season 8 table, but it was removed since there is no similar listing in the previous seasons. This is a new credit that didn't appear in the show before this year and I think it should be included. -- Brad (talk) 01:42, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I checked two season 7 episodes ("Fool's Gold" and "Samalamadingdong") and both had the crediting as well. I'm not entirely sure we want to try and cram every single detail/crediting into the episode tables, would this be something we're unable to incorporate into the Production section? Maybe something similar to, "Episodes throughout the series have been conceived by Dropout writers including ...."?
Also worth noting that a majority of the 'Episode Concept By' is Sam Reich and Ryan Creamer, with a few exceptions (in regards to season 7, Hrannar Björnsson, Ann Nelson, Eva Nemiroff for "The Drinking Game"; Alexis Rhiannon & Tao Yang with SR for "Who Wants to Be...?"; Ben Joseph and Ellie Race-Moore for "Outvoted", and Brennan Lee Mulligan for "Samalamadingdong"). I would imagine it might be a lot easier to add the information in prose writing rather than adding a whole new column not used for the previous 6 seasons, a majority of which are just listing either Reich or Creamer (both of which, the article's infobox already lists as writers for the show). Magitroopa (talk) 02:44, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's the closest thing to a writing credit for each episode, which is standard in all other TV articles. I'm not opposed to prose, either, I just think it should be included somewhere. -- Brad (talk) 02:54, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
