The term ejectisome is usually used (especially in protistology) for a cellular organelle (a kind of extrusome) of an eukaryotic cell used for defence or immobilizing prey., ,...
Ejectosome is usually used for a macromolecular structure of the virus genome ejection machinery or an actin structure of the infecting bacteria (e.g. mycobacteria) for rupturing the plasma membrane to escape from the phagosome into cytoplasm.
