I am adding information on Universal Design, Regeneration and Speciesism. --Edgeoftheworld-ASU (talk) 22:49, 25 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Edgeoftheworld-ASU: Please be careful when editing this page that this page should only include the most important topics related to disability, with any topic covered proportional to its treatment in the body of reliable, published material on the subject. Including universal design makes sense, but the section on regenerative sustainability is not relevant. I'm unsure what the details of your assignment are but you might consider looking for a less broad article to edit, or seeking to improve the sections that already exist, rather than adding long chunks to an article that already has an established structure. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 23:27, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- I think universal design is more relevant to the "Assistive technology" section, and have reduced it to a wikilinked sentence there. A full subsection of "Terminology" seems excessive. Belbury (talk) 16:45, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
I would like to say that regeneration is an extension on sustainability and belongs in the page. I will add universal design back because it is important as well. Instead of delating my work please working on improving it. It is disrespectful not being an expert in this new stuff and using prejudice to assume that it is not relevant. This is a disability page so be inclusive and do not remove information you do not know a lot about. The quote from the disability rights movement "Nothing About Us Without Us so please add to the discourse through work and not censor through deletion. It can be temporary delated but please look at the work and universal design it matter almost more that access. I would swap access for Universal Design and talk about regenerative education. This is not original research and is established via scholarly sources. Thanks --Edgeoftheworld-ASU (talk) 17:11, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- I don't think it's appropriate to invoke "Nothing About Us Without Us" here, as you have no way of knowing whether the other Wikipedians in the discussion have or do not have disabilities. In terms of regenerative sustainability, it's not that I don't think it belongs on Wikipedia or have a problem with the sourcing; I just don't think this is the right article for it because this is the top-level disability article and it's not one of the main concepts that most discussions of disability include. I would recommend adding to the Regeneration (sustainability) article instead. If we included every topic that overlaps with disability, this article would be far too long, which is why we need to be selective.
- I'm neutral on how much information on universal design belongs here--I think it's more relevant than the regenerative sustainability stuff, but there is also a page for universal design which may be a better target for in-depth information. SomeoneDreaming (talk) 23:14, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, I apologize is what I said was passive aggressive. I would change the assistive technology section to universal design because it is a broader concept. Otherwise you are welcome to look into regenerative education and add that if wanted. I added both concepts Universal Design and regeneration, originally because scholars back it up and because of it's significance. If did not know what regeneration and it's relationship was before today look it up it is more relevant the you think, at first glance. If it is not wanted though in the article I will use the sources for new writing. Regardless I will look through the history and use the sources not my words and create my own content on it for my social media page from the ground up with new words that I write that are not creative commons, or protected on this page. Either way you can help who sees it if you actively partake.
This is more on why it matters to have the content.
I will leave it up to you on how you if want to advocate for a Regenerative Future now or wait for later when damage is done. This page's contents it is out of my control, so the community can help decide the fate of the planet through simple advocacy. Climate change and breaching the planetary boundaries will not change and wait for culture lag on Regenerative and Universal Design vocabulary, especially in it's intersection with disabilities. : ). This might sound harsh so I put this sentence here to soften it, and say you can decide what to do and how you want the page to look. If you want to understand how to be a better Wikipedia page editor for encyclopedia writing look and systems thinking from the lens of scholarly research and encyclopedia writing for Wikipedia. Systems thinking looks at how everything is connected in systems and not really siloed. Edgeoftheworld-ASU (talk) 18:35, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- I am replying and saying you have the choice of what to include and remove from the article. It am not pressuring you but I explained above why it is important especially when it is researched. At the end of the day if you do not want to take the feedback I will let you know you can take or leave what I said. I intend to expand horizons not attack personal opinions.
