Issue population
[edit]The last update of historic population is wrong. It should include all people in the country and not only the japanese. I suggest to go back to the previous figures Toto88888888 (talk) 12:10, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
Historical Population - rewrite?
[edit]The Historical Population section is weirdly (if not badly) worded. The 4th paragraph is the worst, but the entire section is not in chronological order and the theme is jumping around. 45.62.186.36 (talk) 00:32, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Quoted figure not in linked reference

low percentage of foreigners
[edit]3,7 millions of the 125 mio inhabitants are foreigners - a very low value for a society with so many old and very old people: 3.0 %
List of sovereign states by immigrant and emigrant population:
Germany 19.8, USA 15.2, France 13.8, Italy 11.0 ...

(btw: The self-proclaimed Progressive Party Nippon Ishin, which for several years has sought to grow from a regional party in Osaka to national prominence, is promoting a cap on foreigners in the country in its election platform (2025 Japanese House of Councillors election, 20 July 2025) to curb the "negative effects of the disorderly increase in the number of foreign nationals."
