Why is the Sword Route not mentioned?

The sword route is a huge part of ch 3. If I’m blind, it’s at most vaguely mentioned. It is important to the weird route and the knight and a bunch of other important plot points. Eversoulforever (talk) 17:08, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Also there is no mention of some things, and just plain being wrong about others. For example, in the Alternate Route section, it mentions Spamton as an “Optional side quest.” You are forced to fight him after Queen forces you to go get the cars out of her way. I disagree that it's crucial to a brief summary of the plot; yes it alludes to and is connected to some important stuff but one can describe the basic plot of Deltarune without mentioning it.

It is not related to the plot in any way at this point in time. However, it is theorised that this is foreshadowing for a potential route, accesible by aborting the weird route after obtaining the thorn ring, letting you get the twisted sword in chapter 6. Should reference be added to main body?

Reference for "fever dream" detail?

This article says that "The inspiration for Deltarune came to Fox in a fever dream in 2011." I've heard this a lot, but it has no citation in the article. Does that need a citation? Plutooonium (talk) 16:52, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

My apologies; you're right. The trouble spot is that it's mentioned early on (in the second paragraph) and has no citation for that mention of it. The citation is way further down under Development and Release. That's what's causing confusion. Plutooonium (talk) 20:05, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

Is Deltarune part of the Undertale franchise?

I’d like to ask a question today: Is Deltarune a game that’s part of the Undertale series—like a spin-off—or is it a standalone game that uses Undertale characters, similar to a crossover like Fortnite or The King of Fighters? Marisoft69 (talk) 23:46, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

I do not believe that Deltarune is a part of the Undertale "series" (it's in a different universe, even with sharing some characters), and I wouldn't say it's exactly a spin-off (as defined in the article). It's a different universe, again. They are related, but more in a standalone type of way. At least, that's my thoughts.

deltarune.com actually does call it the "next adventure in the UNDERTALE series" as well as a "parallel story". But I think the current way the article describes it in the lead is less confusing to readers. If Fox decides to make a third game with elements from Undertale and/or Deltarune then I’d support changing it to say that it’s part of the Undertale series (or whatever else becomes the common way to describe it), and then clarify that the games don’t have identical settings. Undertale and Deltarune are both seperate games that happen to share characters but calling Deltarune a spin-off of Undertale isn't right. Toby Fox calls them "parallel" stories. I reverted your edit on the matter. FishandChipper 🐟🍟 00:43, 14 September 2026 (UTC)
