Move discussion in progress

First run with Van Halen: 1972–1985
[edit]The section states "They toured for three months at the bottom of the bill supporting rising superstars Journey and Montrose (whose lead singer was Sammy Hagar), then another nine months opening for heavy metal icons Black Sabbath."
Sammy Hagar was in Montrose from 1973 to 1975. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammy_Hagar#Musical_career
The version of Montrose that Hagar had been a member of, was defunct by 1977. In January of 1978, Ronnie Montrose was performing as a solo artist in support of Open Fire. That album was an instrumental release in the Jeff Beck vein, and the supporting tour was conducted without any vocalist at all. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Fire_(Ronnie_Montrose_album). On tour bills, Ronnie Montrose was listed simply as "Montrose" which causes confusion in the historical review.
As for this section, stating that, in 1978, Van Halen opened for Montrose "whose lead singer was Sammy Hagar" is also confusing and misleading. It implies that the members of Van Halen were, perhaps, introduced and even cooperated with Sammy Hagar on that first national tour. No such thing happened. matsellah (talk) 12:57, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
