[edit]

This doesn't fit the article for a number of reasons

1) There's no details in the newsweek article as to what actually about his visit was controversial. If you look at the article (which also was written after October 7th), the title is "Celebrities' Israel Visits Have Long Been Criticized." The extent to which the article is able to pinpoint any "controversy" is from looking at comments random people have left on his instagram page from his time in Israel. This is, in its entirety, the criticism included in the article:

There was also a barrage of negative reactions, one of which read: "Oh glad it was filled with hummus instead of the blood of Palestinian people. Cause you know, you're in 'Israel.'"

In short, the article was written just to demean any celebrity who visits Israel, regardless of the reason for the visit. Because the article was written 6 years after his visit, they quite literally couldn't come up with a reason it was problematic, outside of him being there. If you were to extrapolate this logic to all of wikipeida, you would have to say *anyone* visiting Israel would be a source of contention, which wouldn't make sense.

2) Expounding on point 1) above, the criticism around his visit wasn't added to this article until after October 7th. Seems interesting his visit wasn't problematic to the editor prior to the attacks

3) The newarab article isn't much better. The article's author admittedly states she is an activist and it should be taken more as an opinion piece rather than a trusted source. The article is rife with language such as "occupation," "open air prison," and a definition of the word "hasbara," all of which go way beyond the scope of what the commentary should be around a comedian's trip to Israel. Said otherwise, the author has a very, very strong point of view going into the article and the bias is evident.

4) Continuing on point 3, what does BDS and "hasbara" have to do with Conan? This isn't even a wikipedia article about the specific Israel episode either, it's a wikipedia page for the entire Conan Without Borders series. And yet, a good chunk of it is literally devoted to the definition of "hasbara." It's not relevant.

5) If you watched the episode he spent a good portion talking to Palestinian activists who used language such as "from the river to the sea." It's not like this was a Israel informational as you would expect only from reading the wikipedia article. Lockrobster12 (talk) 22:33, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think you raise some good points, I'll be interested in having more opinions on this. Please don't remove the text until the discussion has concluded. Cerebral726 (talk) 23:25, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
