Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Climate of Titan. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

Rate of evaporation and frequency of rain

[edit]

I recall reading, maybe twenty years ago, in a reputable source, the following. I think it is an interesting summary for the article, worth including. Except that I can neither remember nor find the source.

• On Earth, there is enough sunshine to evaporate about 1m of water per year, and the atmosphere can hold about 2cm of water. So, as a crude global average, it rains about about once a week, and it rains a bit less than an inch.

• On Titan, there is enough sunshine to evaporate about 1cm of methane per year, and the atmosphere can hold about 10m of methane. So, as a crude global average, it rains about about once a millennium, and when it rains, my oh my, does it rain!

If you have a source for something like this, please edit to include. if you believe me wrong, please post a correction here. Thank you. JDAWiseman (talk) 20:49, 4 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
