20 years late to the party, but it stands for Prosopographia Imperii Romani, a prosopographical work which attempts to chart the existence of every single high-profile person in the empire. There's a wikipedia page about it now. - Cy4zur3, 15 June 2026

Previous edits have disagreed over whether Claudia Augusta died in May or April. The Latin passage in Tacitus (Annals 15.23) where she dies claims that "quartum intra mensem defuncta infante."
