Change [1]Chaplin was born in France and his mum was not from the Romani people Chaplin himself said he was born in Fontenbleu France , while his parents were touring this is supported by a newspaper article "This is from The Era, a prominent show business newspaper, of Saturday 11 May 1889. The record is just one paragraph at the very bottom of a long column and it reads:"BIRTH. - April 15th, the wife of Charles Chaplin, nee Lily Harley, of a beautiful boy. Mother and son both doing well." There isn't the slightest doubt that this is a record of Chaplin's birth since his father was Charles Chaplin senior and his mother Hannah was also on the stage under the name of Lily Harley." https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0004730/19150813/005/0001 Suzanine (talk) 20:28, 6 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Under “Final works and renewed appreciation”

“The Freak” was supposed to take place in “Chile” and not ambiguously in “South America.” Sergsva1 (talk) 03:29, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want made. I don't have access to the source cited at the statement, but as "South America" is not incorrect, we'd need a reliable source to specify Chile. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 15:42, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Is this article softpedalling pedophilia?

[edit]

The article only covers Chaplin's relationship with Lita Grey from their marriage when she was 16, describing her in the preceding phase as a teenager, and omitting the nature of the relationship prior. The reliable sources indicate Chaplin and Grey were acquainted since she was 12, and they began a sexual relationship while she was a child. Why does this article portray this as benign? ~2026-54455-80 (talk) 01:46, 15 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
