Payola

Lane didn't try to combat "music piracy" as understood today so much as he fought payola (cf Alan Freed) and corruption. I'd like to add a section about it. Any thoughts? Matuko (talk) 18:25, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

I added a bit. https://archive.org/details/penguinencyclope0000unse/page/982/mode/2up suggests that there might be more interesting detail out there (Payola only mentions Lane accusing publishers of bribing DJs, while the Penguin article mentions a conflict of interest in publishers owning stations) but I haven't found other solid sources. Hi Dave Schweisguth, like how you provide page numbers for books, it's best to provide a timestamp telling the reader when in a video/audio recording something occurred. So, if the relevant part you're citing occurred five minutes and twelve seconds into this this thirteen-minute audio recording, you'd use the parameter "|at=5:12" (instead of "|p=", which is for pages).
