Request for advice

I've made a few tweaks. Did the review in Strider have anything quotable to say about the watershed/route, rather than specifically about the book?

And is there anything, perhaps in Grough,which gives a death date for Mike Allen: Wikipedia doesn't use "the late", and we can see from the Grough ref that he died pre-2011, but a death date would be useful. PamD 11:58, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

And distances in miles should be shown with metric conversion. The double brackets then look messy, so I suggest dropping the brackets for distance and using a linebreak. @DoubleGrazing This has been improved variously since you declined it six months ago. You said that the editor should "leave himself out", but he does seem to have done an unusual walk and written a book about it, which has now been reviewed in the journal (sadly not online) of the Long Distance Walkers Association, the serious authority on absurdly-long walks in the UK. He has been open about his COI, but he does seem to be the expert in the subject (given that the other completer of a walk along the watershed has died).

The article is not really about the walk, but about the line of the actual watershed as a geographical thing: it certainly exists, and it's slightly surprising that it hasn't been written about much, probably because it has a less obvious line in the southern English areas of the island of Great Britain (while the Scottish part of the island is a long and thin, and the Pennines mark the watershed of northern England clearly).

Would you consider approving it for mainspace now? PamD 12:09, 18 June 2026 (UTC)

My comment about leaving himself out was only because it seemed like this was an oblique way of promoting the book (ADMASQ-ishly), but if you're satisfied that's not the case then I've no issue with that, either. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:21, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
