I'm Not There

[edit]

This film was added to the lead; I suppose it *is* an "Oscar-nominated" biopic, but the Oscar nomination it got was for Best Actress, not Best Picture. Should this be reworded? Left out? Opinions? Brianyoumans (talk) 17:42, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

Brianyoumans I'd be happy to drop I'm Not There. It's a remarkable film but A Complete Unknown had a much bigger impact, both critically and at box office. So per Occam's Razor.... Mick gold (talk) 17:49, 22 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh, sorry, you know, life - sick cat, graduating child, all that. I'll go ahead and take out "I'm Not There".Brianyoumans (talk) 15:14, 23 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Complete Unknown had a bigger impact but I'm Not There is the better film. What of Martin Scorsese's Dylan films? I added No Direction Home, as it is a work by an important filmmaker and a useful resource. What of Rolling Thunder, remarkable for different reasons? [edit]

His name is Bob Dylan. Remove the Zimmerman stuff. Sugarcanedrift (talk) 12:52, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

This isn't a case of a gender transition, this is more similar to someone using a stage name. I don't think there is any indication that Dylan objects to people knowing his original name, is there? Brianyoumans (talk) 15:29, 17 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree using the page name as Bob Dylan his popular name while his name in the first sentence is Robert Dylan while removing the () the legal name ~2026-48310-63 (talk) 13:29, 10 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
There have been extensive discussions on this in the past, look in the archived Talk pages. Basically, for public figures their legal name at birth is notable and should be included. If they have changed their name then their new name is the one that should be used in the rest of the article. And, anyways, this isn't a case of someone transitioning their gender, it's just a case of someone adopting their stage name as their legal name, like Alice Cooper - note that his birth name is mentioned in the lead.Brianyoumans (talk) 17:49, 10 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Someone replaced the picture

[edit]

The picture of Bob Dylan was replaced by some sort of meme. ~2026-47421-74 (talk) 19:30, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Yea should we revert? I think we really should Kh4led08 (talk) 19:32, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know how to revert? I never have Kh4led08 (talk) 19:35, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Done.Brianyoumans (talk) 19:49, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much! May you teach me how to revert myself to fight vandalism as well? Kh4led08 (talk) 19:52, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
To revert, you can click "Recent changes", and the edits will have the word "undo" next to them, and you can click that to revert bad edits. Or you can manually remove bad things from the article by editing it. Garlik-bread666 (talk) 14:13, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Visual arts branch article

[edit]

I see someone has moved the visual arts material to a new article. I wish they had discussed the matter here first... but it might be a good idea. What do people think? I think these are some of the least significant parts of Dylan's career, so swapping them out to a side article might work. Brianyoumans (talk) 20:22, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Seems like a good idea in the light of repeated complaints this article is Too Long. Creation of the Visual art of Bob Dylan article has no adverse impact on the main article. Mick gold (talk) 23:10, 24 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spheres of Influence

[edit]

Would it be worth having a subcategory for "Influences" (Robert Johnson, Hank Wiliams, Homer et al.?) Right now they are scattered throughout the article. Charlie Faust (talk) 14:41, 28 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
