As for All Game Guide, they are considered "marginally reliable" per WP:ALLMUSIC (which includes All Game, operated by Rhythm One): "There is consensus that RhythmOne websites are usable for entertainment reviews with in-text attribution." And the Video Game project provides this analysis of All Game: "There is a consensus that AllGame is usable for reviews, with attribution. However, some editors question the accuracy of its raw database for facts such as genre and credits, and recommend more reliable sources when available." I've used these All Games pages in two ways: to provide secondary support for some non-controversial information about the game and a different Barbie video game title, and to provide review information. I just updated the article replace the Detective Barbie AllGames link with a link to the credits page of that game's manual.

  Thank you @Vestrian24Bio. I think that tool you are using is not very good at assessing Wikipedia Library's EBSCO Host links, because all 3 "potentially spammy" links are from paywalled sources or, in one case, a print source that likely doesn't exist online in another form:

  1. "In Her PC Games, Barbie Taught '90s Kids They Could Do It All" is a paywalled Daily Beast article (see: WP:DAILYBEAST, "no consensus") that we have access to via the Wikipedia Library
  2. "16 ways we think about Barbie" is a paywalled Washington Post article (reliable source: WP:WAPO)
  3. "'Legacy-free' development cuts costs, boosts features" is for an article from a print magazine This Week In Consumer Electronics (aka "Twice" magazine) that possibly never even existed online.

  For the pages without archive links:

  1. "In Her PC Games, Barbie Taught '90s Kids They Could Do It All" article requires Wikipedia Library / EBSCO host login and, as such, cannot be archived. The link-dispenser tool shows this as well with the tag "HTTP status code 302" (which references the login redirect)
  2. Complete Sourcebook on Children's Interactive Media is already hosted on Archive.org & is blocked by the Wayback Machine, which is why the link-dispensor tool marks it as "Requests blocked by site owner"

  6. The Chicago Tribune article is from Newspapers.com. Recently, that site has completely blocked archive scrapers like Wayback Machine. link-dispenser marks as "Requests blocked by site owner" & if you try to archive it with the Wayback Machine / Archive.org, you get an error saying that it's forbidden.
  7. El Paso Times article is also from Newspapers.com & returns "Requests blocked by site owner".

  • NOTE about Newspapers.com -- there is an existing Houston Chronicle article hosted on Newspapers.com that has an archive link. I suppose someone archived it before archiving was blocked. This is my best guess, because archiving those links is not possible anymore, from what I see & from what link-dispenser shows with "Requests blocked" labels.

  For the sites above that cannot be archived, I have gone through and added {{cbignore}} (see: Template:Cbignore) to these links. I also removed archive links for Austin Biz Journal (because they have retroactively blocked Wayback Machine archiving, so the archive link just goes to a blank error page). Other than this cbignore template, I'm not sure how else to indicate that these links, unfortunately, can't be archived like normal links.

  Yeah I archived the Houston Chronicle clipping. I have been using Newspapers.com since 2021 and have been archiving my clippings until that block. Timur9008 (talk) 14:46, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

  I should note the Austin Business Journal article worked fine last year (it was archived in 2004 not 2019, I've put in may Sanbox just in case). Wayback Machine machine links either work or they don't and many links disappear and reappear. Timur9008 (talk) 15:09, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

  Yeah unfortunately I think that Biz Journal recently updated their robots.txt file to exclude the Wayback Machine's crawlers. And then, based on the Wayback Machine's exclusion policy, any old archives they had were hidden. — Chao Garden 🌱 ~ say hello 15:58, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
