Artemis 3 mission update

[edit]

Hi everyone. I updated the Artemis 3 mission for launch in September 2024 according to NASA's office of safety and mission assurance. Here is the reference https://web.archive.org/web/20210614003506/https://sma.nasa.gov/docs/default-source/sma-disciplines-and-programs/smsr/smsr-intergrated-master-schedule_24feb2020aab4a269d2a865b9a1a0ff0f003ca228.pdf?sfvrsn=8290faf8_26

Size of lunar landing crew

[edit]

Nowhere in the discussion of the lunar lander for the Artemis program does it seem to inform on how many of the Orion crew would make the landing. For Apollo, it was two of the three. Artemis carries four crew members - do two land and two stay aboard the Orion? Or three land and one stay aboard? Or will all FOUR land and the Orion will run empty until the crew returns? This statement, from the article specifically about Artemis IV, seems to indicate that it will be the entire crew: "Once docked, the crew will transfer to the lander, descend to the lunar surface, conduct extravehicular activities, and then return to Orion in lunar orbit for the journey back to Earth." Is the Ignition stuff legal?

[edit]

Question in title.

There are quite a few laws that look like were broken. Specifically, the 2010 NASA Authorization Act (42 U.S.C. § 18322), the 2022 NASA Authorization Act (PL 117-167 Sec. 10812 and 10811), the One Big Beautiful Bill/Working Families Tax Cut (51 U.S.C. § 20306), and since the last one was an appropriations bill, probably the Constitution itself. Among other laws, contracts. and agreements with other countries.

I feel like this should be at least mentioned in Artemis-related articles. RedDeadGuy (talk) 04:33, 21 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

All content in WP is based on reliable secondary sources, not our own interpretation of US laws. Do you have proper sources covering this? --McSly (talk) 16:48, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep looking, but I have this: https://www.congress.gov/crs-product/IF11643?hl=%22upper+stage%22&s=9&r=11 RedDeadGuy (talk) 17:07, 22 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
