Slaight received numerous awards and honors in his lifetime -- including: i) An induction to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) Hall of Fame in 1997;[6] ii) An Appointment as a Member of the Order of Canada in 2001, iii) Declared a national "Pillar of Achievement in Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy" during his Canada's Walk of Fame induction ceremony in 2020;[7] iv) Presented the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award during the 2005 Juno Awards ceremony,[8] and, v) Crowned with the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.[9] But, above and beyond the pomp and glory, Allan Slaight is most notably remembered as "a distinguished Canadian & committed philanthropist" whose contributions continue to be recognized as benefiting the people of his beloved City of Toronto and across Canada.[10][11][12][13]
John Allan Slaight passed away of natural causes at his Toronto home at the age of 90.[14][15][16] HumanWritesBook (talk) 04:35, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
