Im confused as to why Alf even has a wikipedia page

other than being john lennon's father it seems he did nothing of note! but if being the father of a famous person is enough, in itself, to warrant a wikipedia entry how come every other famous singers dad doesnt have their own wikipedia page??? seriously, what on earth did he do, besides being the father of john lennon, that made him a well known person warranting a wikipedia entry? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.172.226.9 (talk) 05:52, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

... Which anyone viewing this article or talk page should be able to gather. Notability is not inherited, but even a quick browse of the references section shows that there are plenty of reliable sources with significant coverage of this person. This is basically a spinoff of the article about John Lennon, an extremely prominent figure, and such spinoffs help to keep the size of major articles much more manageable. Alfred > Lennon

He's referred to as "Alfred" across this whole article rather than as "Lennon". Is there any reason for this, other than to avoid confusion with his son John? I just want to know if there's a consensus on this. SkywalkerEccleston (talk) 03:23, 29 December 2025 (UTC)
