Translator?

"This skill brought her to the door of 10 Downing Street to assist with translations" - what does this mean? Why would she be assisting with translations at the door of 10 Downing Street rather than properly inside the building? It's not encyclopaedic language. Did the writer mean that she worked for the British government, or did she really specifically translate at the official residence of the prime minister? That is a fair question. I was under the impression that she had married a vet and lived somewhere in east anglia in obscurity. What happened to that? The street in Hove where she passed her childhood is completely nondescript and has a men's tailors and outfitters on the corner. It seems that it was her mother who had a contact in TV which produced her first job at age about 15. The rest of it about languages is hogwash.Miletus (talk) 16:12, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

I've just read the article and was immediately struck by "the door of 10 Downing Street" line and thought the same as EarldelaWarr above. What does that phrase mean? She was standing by the door calling out translations? She either worked for Number 10 or she didn't. Please clarify someone who knows... Twizzlemas (talk) 17:49, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Repeated unsourced addition

There seems to be a concerted effort, most recently by @TheKnightsTemplarNFFC, to add an unsourced statement to the death section, saying "The service was conducted by her local Rector and friend: The Revd Derek Spencer who had also conducted the funeral of her husband a year earlier." I have repeatedly reverted this addition, with the explanation that it is unsourced, most recently placing a warning on that user's talk page. Hi there - I am sorry but I don’t how this works or if I need to go through an assessor to add a comment - basically, I was the Rector at Sullington Church from 2007-2017 and conducted the funeral and burial of Alexandra Bastedo and her husband Patrick Garland. They were both very good friends of mine, and I would like to add that fact to Wikipedia - can you please tell me how I can do that without you removing it - I don’t want to offend anyone or do anything I’m not supposed to, but I find it upsetting that everytime I add this fact you remove it. Can you please let me know what I’m supposed to do in order not to break any rules - I haven’t added things to Wikipedia before so, I’m not sure what the protocol is

A you please advise me on how I explain the source - are you asking for proof? If so what kind of proof do you require?

Officiant: Revd Derek Spencer, vicar of St Mary's Church, Sullington.

Location: St Mary's Churchyard, Sullington, West Sussex.

Attendees: Family, close friends, and figures from the theatre world who shared tributes and anecdotes.

Thanks for your explanation. In this case, the addition needs to show two things:

• Notability. The name of the officiant at either funeral does not seem notable on its own. However, in my personal opinion, the fact that both funerals took place within a year and had the same officiant is interesting to Wikipedia readers and notable, and so could be included.
• Reliable source(s): your personal recollection of being there is insufficient as a source; it requires independent, published sources, per WP:RS. I think the two sources you have now produced are just about sufficient for a statement which should be non-contentious.
