An anon blanked the article and added this. Maybe one of you experts can work some of it into the article. - Tεxτurε 21:37, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Absol is a very good natured pokemon that warns people of up-coming disasters by appearing to them. When it is not warning people in nearby cities, it spends it`s time up in the arctic mountains, playing in snow. Absol has a snowey-white coat that is very soft to the human touch. It has a blue face, tail, and claws. One thing that makes Absol so unique, is it's single ear that is infact, very soft.It lights up and turns sharp when it is mad, annoyed, or stressed. It will not hurt anybody with it`s ear like this. It is just a way to let humans and other pokemon know to be easy with him. Absol is a popular pet in earthquake areas because it warns it's owners when one is coming. The Absol is a nocturnal pokemon in the wild. It loves to sit ontop of a mountain and look at the moon. It is said that on a full moon it restores all of it`s energy with the moonlight

Yeah, OK. I worked most of it in. It'll seem redundant at times, though.

Proven fact?

[edit]

Also, in western world numerology, it's a proven fact that adding the letters of Absol's name equals the number "13" or "4". These are numbers long considered through the ages as a threat, equal to death, or sudden disaster. How is that a proven fact? a=1, b=2, s=19, o=15, l=12, (all together=49); where do 13, and 4 come from?

From "All together=49" add 4 and 9 to get 13, then 1 and 3 to make 4. But that's not really common knowledge (I didn't know till I read it then) and shouldn't be in the article.211.28.230.23 10:13, 10 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fantasy Story?

[edit]

What is this fanatasy story stuff? -Sukecchi 14:16, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

It sounds made up. I've never heard of it, and I don't recall any story where a Pokémon actually dies. Except for the bit about Cubone's mother in the games. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 16:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Concerns about notability

[edit]

I'm admittedly not really convinced this article meets the notability guidelines; a lot of the article's reception hails from Wikipedia:VALNET sources, and many other sources' content seems to be either trivial or more or less just mentioning its design origins, rather than actually commenting on or analyzing them. Easily the biggest source, TechRaptor, is of debateable notability, and the Reception leans on it quite a bit. Given I contributed quite a bit to the initial draft, I'm well-acquainted with the source coverage, and I'm not quite sure this article meets notability even now. Hi. Yeah it's been a long while, but since concerns over character articles appearing last year have calmed, I was willing to test the waters to see what people think of this article. I'd be very willing to hear further opinions over the next few weeks, and that could very well influence my decisions over this individual article. Besides, I think it'd be neat enough to preserve in the edit history records if it gets merged back. PrimalMustelid (talk) 01:48, 3 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to echo Poke's concerns over notability. Some of the weaker refs definitely need to go, the ones just not really saying much of anything (i.e. Masaaki Hoshino's statement), but I don't think there'd be enough in the aftermath to carry it I fear.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:29, 4 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't really have much to say as the page creator, but personally, I would say that the page could fly by fine since the three sources I mentioned, even if not very strong, could potentially pass by. There's a decent bit said about the design and appearances of it in their respective sections (the game design of it being associated with natural disasters is noteworthy I think), but since the reception is the biggest focus, there is enough opinions going around that touch on various aspects of it, emphasizing that it is favored for its design and lore even if not as in-depth, plus Valnet isn't actually used much in it. So yeah, that's basically my opinion on this. PrimalMustelid (talk) 20:50, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
