@Thenightaway: I noticed your last edit removed from lede 1- mentions of an economic boom 2004-2008 2- king's perspective on the offshore accounts 3- contentious label of "authoritarian regime" which isn't supported by the Freedom House report mentioning "partly free" (a constitutional monarch with wide powers as originally written is more descriptive). Please elaborate on your edits. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:26, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The cited sources in the body do not substantiate that there was an economic boom and that it was because of the king's policies. The peer-reviewed OUP book by a recognized expert on the topic characterizes the regime as dictatorial. There is no need to have the king's PR team's justifications for holding offshore accounts. Thenightaway (talk) 13:42, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Thenightaway: Regarding the justifications, please check WP:DENIALS: "If the subject has denied such allegations, their denial(s) should be reported too." I don't see how the denial doesn't belong in the lede, especially in a BLP.
Also, regarding the authoritarian regime label, this does not belong in the lede, which should be kept factual (king holds a lot of power) as interpretations differ (whether this is authoritarian vs partly free vs etc). Interpretations are better elaborated in the body, rather than having simplistic labels that aren't universally supported in the RS in the lede. Per WP:LEAD: "It gives the basics in a nutshell, introduces the article, and cultivates interest in reading on, though not by teasing the reader or hinting at what follows. It should be written in a clear, accessible style with a neutral point of view." Makeandtoss (talk) 14:15, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

His Majesty King Abdullah II has the Kazakh Order of the Golden Eagle. It is not reflected in his honours section. Please amend it accordingly. Thank you.

Not done. This is pretty crufty stuff and I don't see why it's worth including. On top of that, this source isn't independent from the subject of the article. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 15:24, 23 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Abdullah II of Jordan → Abdullah II – Per WP:SOVEREIGN, the "of Jordan" disambiguator should not be used here, as the subject is the clear primary topic in terms of pageviews and long-term significance, and is the long-standing WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT on the Abdullah II (disambiguation) page. Rosbif73 (talk) 06:59, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

But the guideline says: "Only use a territorial designation (e.g. country) when disambiguation is needed" and doesn't say anything regarding page views or long-term significance? Makeandtoss (talk) 08:35, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Indeed. There are two cases where disambiguation is not needed: if the name and regnal number are unambiguous (not applicable here, there are other Abdullah IIs) or if the subject is the primary topic. The two main criteria for being a primary topic are usage, i.e. being highly likely—much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term, as evidenced by pageviews, and long-term significance. Rosbif73 (talk) 09:14, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agree. All other Abdullahs in Abdullah II (disambiguation) are more obscure than the current king of Jordan. Thebirdnird (talk) 11:55, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
