April 2025 hailstorm?
[edit]Hi Borgenland, thank you for your contributions! Can you please explain how this hailstorm is routine? I think (but not only me) that this event is notable considering one of its kind in Pakistan, as also covered by multiple news sources. While the hailstorm was predicted, the citizens also facing property damages was unexpected due to large size hails.
Just to seek guidance, no offence. Hope for your kind response, thank you! M. Billoo 07:22, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Just to be sure, if the phrasing had problem, it can be rephrased to give more clear look. M. Billoo 07:26, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- It is a bit bloated, and I had notability doubts regarding specific property damage values and casualties. Borgenland (talk) 08:57, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Borgenland: I didn't specifically understand your reply. How about reword as:
16 April – A hailstorm causes havoc in Islamabad, with an unusual hail size up to a tennis ball.
- As for the concern of citekill, actually I used multiple references here to support each clause from each cite and summarized in one paragraph only, so that every reference was useful here.
(Specific other terms if not notable here: predicted, late-afternoon, 35 minutes, heat-wave, humidity, traffic, electricity, Faisal Masjid, solar panels, tree branches, vicinity thunderstorm, car windscreens, building windows, etc.) M. Billoo 10:50, 4 June 2025 (UTC)- Hailstorms are a not uncommon occurrence, and trying to note the size of a ball at this stage is WP:TRIVIA. Is there any information that justifies a passing mention, perhaps a significant quantified amount of property damage or casualties? Borgenland (talk) 10:52, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Borgenland: With all due respect, yes hailstorms are common, but damages are not. For your ease, please see these further links to confirm property damages: . The earlier 5 references already had cleared this point then. Lastly, no human casualty reported in Islamabad due to the hailstorm. Hope for your kind response, thank you! M. Billoo 13:41, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Weather-related damage is WP:ROUTINE unless you can provide a specific and significant numerical monetary value, not to mention the incident having quality issues due to use of Youtube links (generally discouraged) and WP:OVERCITE. I don't know the exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee, but it certainly won't pass notability if only a vague number of cars and infrastructure suffer broken windows and nothing else. Borgenland (talk) 13:45, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Borgenland: Really sorry, but at this point I think I should ask for a friendly third opinion as well, please don't mind. I don't see anything relatable in ROUTINE. Instead, at WP:NWEATHER, it is mentioned:
- A "rare" tornado does not have to kill or injure people as notability can be established based on rarity.
- There is no minimum number of casualties or amount of damage required to make a storm notable.
- Notability should be based on the storm's impact and aftermath, not on preparations alone.
- With all due respect, the WP:RSPYT was solely meant for your ease, and that too from official accounts of reputable news platforms in Pakistan. After all, I wasn't even asking for a stand-alone article, and I have already addressed the CITEKILL part above. Sorry, English is not my native language, and sorry if I tried redirecting you to Urdu language. Thank you! M. Billoo 14:43, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- While waiting for such, I see that there is no significant impact apart from a bunch of broken windows and a plain blackout, not to mention WP:CRYSTAL wording and other WP:NOTNEWS and WP:NEWSPAPER content. Plus, I find it weird that you choose to compare WP:NTORNADO and WP:NWXTC for something completely different. Borgenland (talk) 16:23, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @M.Billoo2000, @Borgenland, here to give a 3O. My take on this right now from what I've seen so far is that if the event was notable enough to receive special article-length coverage in several prominent Pakistani newspapers, it's notable enough for this article. I don't think it's really our place to judge for ourselves whether we think it's significant based on our own feelings about the event; we have to trust the sources. Also, as a side note, I wouldn't say that citing YouTube videos is "generally discouraged" per se, they just need to be held to the same standard as other sources which they often aren't in practice (see WP:VIDEOLINK for a longer overview). Here, these videos are from prominent, reputable news outlets as far as I can see, so that seems fine to me, and there are good print sources too in any case. 🍉◜⠢◞ↂ🄜𝚎sₒᶜa𝚛🅟ම𛱘🥑《 𔑪talk〗⇤ 17:14, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- In that case I have no objection apart from ensuring that the passage is not rewritten in the Bloated WP:NEWSPAPER manner in which I found it at the time of deletion. Borgenland (talk) 17:16, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- @Mesocarp: Thank you for your opinion. @Borgenland: Please re-add in neutral way. M. Billoo 00:00, 6 June 2025 (UTC)

2025 Karachi earthquakes
[edit]Hi Borgenland, thank you for your contributions! Do you think there should be a standalone article about this subject now? There has been so much in news. Thank you! M. Billoo 20:08, 23 June 2025 (UTC)
- I have no strong opinions with regards to that. Though I acknowledge I have not been following the story since the jailbreak occurred. Borgenland (talk) 06:24, 24 June 2025 (UTC)
- I have started writing here. May expand the body shortly, however, I am unsure of the infobox. Your help is most welcome! M. Billoo 17:02, 1 July 2025 (UTC)

YouTube personalities
[edit]Hi Borgenland, hope you are doing well. Just wanted a suggestion, should we add information about the arrest of 2 YouTube personalities, about 100 days of imprisonment each, and then released? I am talking about Ducky Bhai and Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza, both events being SIGCOV and trending. Thank you! M. Billoo 22:38, 8 December 2025 (UTC)
- Blasphemy in Pakistan is indeed a very notorious issue enough to have its own article so I don’t find a reason not to. Borgenland (talk) 02:05, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
