Notino is a Czech retailer of perfumes, cosmetics and other beauty and personal-care products, headquartered in Brno. It was founded in 2004 by Czech entrepreneur Michal Zámec as the online perfume retailer Parfums.cz.[3] The company began using the Notino name in 2016 as it expanded on European market.[4]

By 2026, Notino was active in 27 European markets. In 2025, it reported turnover of €1.76 billion and more than 40 million customers. Poland was its largest market, with more than 15% of sales. The Czech Republic and Italy followed.[1][5]

History

[edit]

Zámec founded Parfums.cz in Brno in 2004. The company initially specialized in selling perfumes online and expanded to Slovakia in 2005. It later entered Poland, Germany and other European markets while broadening its range to include cosmetics and other beauty products.[3]

The company initially used different names in each market. In 2016, when it was active in 13 markets, it began replacing these brands with the Notino name, initially in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.[6][4]

In 2025, Notino cut almost 300 jobs in 2025, mainly in middle and senior management. The company said rapid growth had added layers and slowed decision-making..[7]

In June 2026, chief executive Zbyněk Kocián moved to a strategic role covering the wider group and investments. Bartosz Kliś, Lukáš Havlásek and Jakub Šedý took over as co-chief executives.[8]

Business

[edit]

Notino sells perfumes, skincare, makeup, hair-care products and other beauty and personal-care products. It began as an online retailer and later opened physical stores.

As of 2026, Notino operated 27 stores in eight European countries. About 40% of orders were placed through Notino's mobile app. Sales at its physical stores rose by almost 30% during the same financial year.[5]

Poland was Notino's largest market, with more than 15% of group turnover. The Czech Republic accounted for about 12%, followed by Italy and Romania.[5][1]

Logistics

[edit]

Notino operates four distribution centres in Europe, located in the Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Romania.[9] Its main logistics facilities are located near Brno, including a fulfilment centre at Rajhrad.[10]

Notino uses automated packing and sorting equipment, conveyors and autonomous mobile robots in its warehouses. Employees still carry out some picking, packing and quality-control work.[9]

A new conveyor and sorting line opened at the Romanian centre in late 2025. It was designed to handle up to 6,000 parcels an hour.[11]

Chanel dispute

[edit]

Notino became involved in a legal dispute with French luxury-goods company Chanel over the sale of Chanel products, as Notino was outside Chanel's selective distribution network. Chanel asked the retailer to identify the suppliers from which it had obtained the products.[12]

On 30 April 2025, the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic dismissed Notino's appeal against a ruling requiring it to provide Chanel with information about the origin and supply of the products.[12] Notino then filed a constitutional complaint.

On 20 January 2026, the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic rejected the complaint as manifestly unfounded.[13]
