Mor Talla Gaye (born 7 January 1999), commonly known as Mor Talla, is a Senegalese professional footballer who plays as a winger for Ukrainian club Bukovyna Chernivtsi. He has also been deployed as a wing-back/full-back during his career.
Early life and youth career
[edit]Mor Talla was born in January 1999 in Guinaw Rail, a commune within the city of Pikine, Senegal. At the age of 12 he joined the academy of Diambars, one of the leading footballing institutes in Senegal, whose senior team is professional and won the Senegalese league title in 2013. At Diambars he developed under the club's coaching staff and stood out for his pace and overall level of play.
Club career
[edit]Diambars FC
[edit]Mor Talla progressed into the Diambars first team, with which he helped the club return to the Senegalese Ligue 1 in 2019. He quickly established himself as an effective performer at that level, drawing interest from several clubs, though transfer activity was complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited the funds clubs were able to spend on signings.[1]
FK Auda (first spell)
[edit]Mor Talla moved to Latvia in 2022, initially spending time on loan with Auda in Ķekava before returning to Diambars.[1]
He then signed permanently for Auda, a club newly promoted to the Latvian Higher League, in March 2022.[2] In his first full season there he produced an encouraging campaign and won the Latvian Cup, despite being hampered by a leg injury.
Riga FC (loan)
[edit]Following his solid debut season, Mor Talla joined Auda's partner club Riga FC on loan for the 2023 season.[2] Deployed in a new role as a wing-back under coach Tomislav Stipić, he had a strong campaign, registering seven assists and one goal in the league. He won the Latvian Cup for a second consecutive year with Riga FC, though he did not feature in the final itself, which Riga FC won against RFS.
FK Auda (return from loan)
[edit]Mor Talla returned to Auda for the 2024 season and delivered his best campaign to date, scoring six league goals and providing eight assists.[3] He again reached the Latvian Cup final with Auda but lost, once more to RFS.
RFS
[edit]After a standout 2024 season — in which he was credited with 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions[4] — Mor Talla left Auda as a free agent. Despite reported interest from several clubs, including some in France, he chose to remain in Latvia, signing with RFS in January 2025.[4] RFS were the reigning back-to-back Latvian champions and Auda/Riga FC's main domestic rival, as well as a participant in European competition.[4] He opened his goalscoring account for his new club against Grobiņa in the seventh round of the league season.
Style of play
[edit]A quick and explosive attacker, Mor Talla is known for his versatility, capable of playing across the front line as a winger. Although trained as a winger, he has also been used as a full-back — notably by coach Tomislav Stipić during his time at Riga FC — reflecting his adaptability across multiple attacking and wide defensive positions. He is left-footed.[5]
International career
[edit]Mor Talla has represented Senegal at youth international level.
