Jessica Schumer is an American lawyer and lobbyist. Schumer is the daughter of Chuck Schumer, the senior Democrat senator from New York.
Early life and education
[edit]Schumer is the daughter of Iris Weinshall and Chuck Schumer.[1] She attended Harvard University and Yale Law School.[1]
Career
[edit]Schumer served a policy director for Tim Kaine during his role as Hillary Clinton's running mate in the 2016 election.[2]
She began to work at Amazon in 2020, where in January 2026 she became head of New York policy and community engagement.[2][3][4] In August 2026, The American Prospect reported that Schumer was the lead lobbyist for Amazon against the Delivery Protection Act, which would require companies like Amazon to directly employ workers for deliveries as opposed to hiring contractors.[2]
In February 2026, OpenAI announced Schumer had been hired as its head of policy and partnerships across the Northeast US.[5]
Personal life
[edit]Schumer married Michael Shapiro on April 17, 2016.[1] The couple have two children.[6]
