Howard Roark is the architect lead character of the 1943 Ayn Rand novel The Fountainhead.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Roark was said to have been inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.[5][7]

In 2012, Roark was named the number one top fictional architect by The Guardian.[8]

Roark is a modernist architect[4] and is described in the novel as having orange hair.[9]

The Fountainhead character Dominique Francon is Roark's lover and later his wife.[10]

Roark was portrayed by actor Gary Cooper in the 1949 film version of The Fountainhead.[11]

In the 2014 play version of The Fountainhead Roark was portrayed by actor Ramsey Nasr.[12]

United States President Donald Trump has described the character of Howard Roark as being his role model.[3]
