The untitled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple sequel is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It will serve as the fifth installment overall in the 28 Days Later film series.

[edit]In December 2025, Sony Pictures Releasing had officially greenlit the third film in the 28 Years Later trilogy, and the fifth installment overall in the 28 Days Later film series, with scribe Alex Garland returning to write, and Cillian Murphy in talks to reprise his role as Jim.[1] In May 2026, Alfie Williams (who played Spike in the 28 Years Later films), posted on Instagram a picture of him training with a bow, hinting at his return for the third film.[2] Later that same month, during an interview with JoBlo.com, Boyle revealed that principal photography is expected to begin sometime in 2027.[3]
