Tanka Timilsina (Nepali: टंक तिमिल्सिना; born 10 July 1996) is a Nepalese singer, composer, lyricist, known for his contributions to Deuda folk music and introducing modern fusion elements to the genre.[1][2]
Early Life and career
[edit]Born on 10 July 1996 in Achham District, Nepal, Timilsina moved to Nepalgunj after completing his SLC for higher education. He began his broadcasting career as a radio jockey for Radio Bheri, hosting the musical programs. Encouraged by listeners, he recorded his debut Deuda song, Laigayo Ratedi, alongside singer Sangita Baduwal.[3][4]
In 2013, Timilsina moved to Kathmandu and started performing at a local Dohori venue in Swayambhu. He gained broad recognition following his 2014 breakout track Sanasani with Tika Pun, which became a regional hit in western Nepal. He subsequently released several popular songs including Meri Champa[5], Chalyo Batas, Jaau Na Hookah Bar, Maan Maya[6], Aama ko Maya and Baki Euta Sapana[7], establishing a distinct musical style by integrating modern pop, rap, and electronic dance beats into traditional Deuda folk melodies.[3][8]
