Sebastian Baden (b. 1980 in Kaiserslautern, Gernmay) is a German art historian and director of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt.

Career

Sebastian Baden studied art education at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe (ABK), literature at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), and fine arts at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB). Immediately after graduating, he founded an art gallery between 2006 and 2011. He completed his doctorate in 2014 on "The Image of Terrorism in the Art System"^[1] with Beat Wyss. From 2010 to 2016, he was an academic assistant in art studies and media theory at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design^[2](HfG). From 2016 to 2022 he was curator for contemporary art, sculpture, and new media at the Kunsthalle Mannheim. Since July 1, 2022 he ist Director of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt.^[3]
