Santosh K.C. (Nepali: सन्तोष केसी) is a Nepalese folk singer, songwriter, and music composer. Active in the Nepali music industry since 2003, he has composed, written, and performed across traditional folk, lok dohori, festive Teej songs, and contemporary modern genres.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]K.C. was born and raised in Gulmi District, Nepal.[1] In 2059 B.S. (c. 2002–2003), he completed his School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations. Following his schooling, he relocated to Kathmandu to pursue formal vocal training and auditioned for the national voice examination administered by state broadcaster Radio Nepal in 2060 B.S. Out of approximately 1,100 candidates participating in the examination, he was among the 61 vocalists who passed, marking his entry into professional recording.[1]
Musical career
[edit]K.C.'s debut release was the track "Naka Thuneko", which reflected on the social impact of the contemporary Nepalese Civil War.[1] In 2064 B.S. (c. 2007), he released the folk song "Tamghasmathi Resungako Ban", which established his profile across the folk and lok dohori music scenes.[1]
Over two decades in the music industry, K.C. established the production banner SS Digital and worked extensively across regional and national platforms. In December 2021, his folk single "Gulmeli Hum Kar" received media coverage upon its global release across international streaming platforms.[2][3] In addition to lok dohori, he has regularly released festive Teej songs focusing on family and social themes, such as "Buba Aama".[4]
