The Ouest-France piece is the nearest so arguably could count as one example, and ideally we need three. Ruby on the Nail (Marseille, France) is a French drag queen. She rose to fame in her home country by participating in Drag Race France season 3 in 2022. .

Often referred to as "the lipsync assassin" , Ruby on the Nail built much of her reputation showing outstanding lip-syncing abilities.

Born in Marseille, Ruby began her drag journey in Paris in 2017. Through this art form, she found a way to express her femininity—inspired by her two older sisters—and discovered an unexpected passion for performing. This love for the stage quickly propelled her into the Parisian queer scene, where she shines as both a host and a performer, particularly excelling in the art of lip-syncing. She went on to launch her own event, "La Boîte à Bijoux," a bi-monthly drag show organised in the centre of Paris . Ruby describes herself as a beautiful, wacky, and rebellious drag artist, embodying a unique blend of eccentricity, beauty, and humor that brings her daily strength and joy—qualities she loves to share with others.

Drag Race France season 3

On 24 April 2024 Ruby on the Nail was announced as one of the ten participants to the third season of Drag Race France.

During the first episode on 31 May 2024, Ruby on the Nail presents an outfit inspired by ballpoint pen for the topic "Made in France". She qualifies for the second episode.

The second episode is aired on 7 June 2024. Ruby fails her piano performance and is at risk of elimination against Magnetica. In the lip-sync battle on Gigi l'amoroso of Dalida, Ruby on the Nail is declared winner and advances to the third episode.

The third episode is aired on 14 June 2024. Ruby on the Nail is again at risk of elimination, this time against Edeha Noire. The battle on C'est l'amour of Clara Luciani is won by Ruby on the Nail, who goes to episode number 4.

The fourth episode is aired on 21 June 2024. Ruby on the Nail advances as no participant is eliminated.

Ruby on the Nail starts building a strong reputation in the competition thanks to her performance during the snatch game part of the fifth episode aired on 28 June 2024. Her iminations of Jul and Isabelle Adjani, but also her look as Nosferatu projected her to the first place of the episode.

Ruby wins two episodes in a row by securing first place in the big challenge of the sixth episode on 5 July 2024.

The seventh episode is aired on 12 July 2024. Five participants are left in the competition. Ruby on the Nail is safe and is announced as one of the four finalists of the season.

The Grand Final is aired on 19 July 2024. Ruby on the Nail presents her single C'est qui la plus belle and advances to the top two against Le Filip. The ultimate lip-sync is on I'm alive of Celine Dion. Le Filip is declared winner of Drag Race France season 3 and Ruby on the Nail finishes runner-up.

Career after Drag Race France

Ruby on the Nail imposes herself as leading figure of the Parisian drag scene by contributing to the show "FANTASMA Circus Erotica", created and directed by the duo Savary & Zaffuto and presented at Folies Bérgère in Paris.

Finally, in 2025 Ruby creates her first own show Topcoat - faire des pieds et des mains , presented at Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris.
