Comment: What we need here is corporate depth. See WP:SIRS then the two sections on corporate depth and corporate trivia. Going through the sources, there is not one truly independent source giving significant coverage to this company. There are a lot of IPO/M&A pieces, but that's in the trivia category; there are thinly disguised press releases; there is material directly from the subject. RSAWEB
[edit]RSAWEB is a South African Internet service provider (ISP) that provides internet and telecommunications services to both residential and business customers.
History
[edit]RSAWEB was founded in 2001 by Rob Gilmour and Mark Slingsby in response to the limited availability and quality of internet services in South Africa at the time. The company is headquartered in Cape Town.
In 2002, RSAWEB launched local web hosting services. This was followed in 2003 by the introduction of an ADSL service.[1], which enabled always-on internet access for South African users.
In 2005, RSAWEB opened its first data centre. A second, larger data centre[2] was completed in 2009. Also in 2005, the company launched its cloud platform, allowing customers to purchase hosted cloud capacity on a pay-per-use basis via credit card.
RSAWEB introduced its fibre-to-the-business (FTTB) service in 2011, followed by a WordPress hosting service in 2014. Since 2015, the company built the first Mobile Data Management platform in South Africa that is Mobile Network Operator (MNO) agnostic, offering MTN and Vodacom services.
In 2016, RSAWEB expanded its fibre offerings by introducing fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services across multiple networks.
In 2016, the founders of RSAWEB launched Octotel, a fibre network operator and Rob Gilmour took on the CEO position while Mark Slingsby stepped into the CEO role at RSAWEB.
In 2019, in response to ongoing power outages in South Africa, RSAWEB introduced new technology in the form of a Mini UPS devices to maintain connectivity during load shedding.
Rudy van Staden[3] was appointed as the CEO of RSAWEB in 2019.
In 2020, Actis, the London-headquartered investment firm, acquired a controlling stake in Octotel and a non-controlling interest in RSAWEB[4]
In 2025, RSAWEB was fully acquired by African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM)[5], STOA[6], an impact fund in infrastructure and energy dedicated to developing and emerging markets, and Thebe Investment Corporation[7], a move that formed part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in the South African telecommunications and internet services market.
Achievements
[edit]RSAWEB has appeared on the Netflix ISP Speed Index rankings for South Africa, which measures streaming performance across internet service providers.
In 2021 and 2022, RSAWEB was awarded Best Internet Service Provider in the KFM Best of the Cape Awards.
Service
[edit]RSAWEB provides Fibre to the Home internet connectivity, prepaid internet, fixed LTE and includes parental control features and installation and hardware as part of its product bundles.
RSAWEB Business offers connectivity services, mobile data management platform and services, security, cloud and VOIP solutions to large enterprise and small to medium business.
Partnerships

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, by 2026, RSAWEB has connected 160 schools in South Africa benefitting 100 000 learners and has enabled 3000 learners to join additional online educational programmes
RSAWEB is currently the headline sponsor of the PSI Indoor Hockey League.
