Draft:Patrapeamani

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Patrapeamani was a ruling Nubian queen who reigned at the beginning of the 4th century AD.

Biography

[edit]

Patrapeamani is known only from a Meroitic inscription on an offering table discovered in Meroë, in the tomb Beg W309 at the Pyramids of Meroë. The offering table is stylistically dated to a very late period.

It is uncertain whether the table was originally placed in this tomb or transported there later, and therefore whether Beg W309 was actually the burial place of this ruler. The inscription also mentions her parents (father: Datiley; mother: […]li).

It is not entirely certain whether Patrapeamani was in fact a woman. Nevertheless, she is considered one of the last attested rulers of Meroë.
