NupekoTV is an independent online newspaper based in Lafiagi, Kwara State, Nigeria. Founded in 2021, NupekoTV publishes political news, public affairs commentary and articles relating to Nupe and African culture.[1]
History
[edit]In March 2026, NupekoTV relaunched its official website after previously publishing primarily through its social media platforms. According to Factual Times, the relaunch provided a dedicated website for the platform's news reports, commentary and coverage of governance, insecurity, youth affairs, culture and community development.[2]
Legal proceedings
[edit]In October 2025, NupekoTV became the subject of public attention after the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) condemned what it described as a clampdown on the media following legal proceedings involving the outlet's publisher over a defamation case.[3]
Awards and recognition
[edit]In 2025, NupekoTV received an Award of Appreciation from the Initial Language Legacy and Culture (ILLEC) in recognition of its contribution to the promotion of the Nupe language.[4]
