Early life and education

Apostolopoulos was born in Patras, Greece.[1] He moved to Paris, France, for his higher education, where he studied at the Sorbonne.[3] He earned a diploma in political science and subsequently obtained a doctorate in international law.[1][3]

Career

[edit]

Fashion design

[edit]

Apostolopoulos entered the fashion industry in 1985 with the launch of his first collection, which specialized in men's intimate wear.[1] His early designs gained attention for a minimalist aesthetic that utilized cotton and stretch Lycra to emphasize the masculine physique.[2] In 1987, he expanded his brand's portfolio to include women's intimate wear, swimwear, and ready-to-wear collections for both men and women.[3]

Costume design

[edit]

Beyond commercial fashion, Apostolopoulos has designed costumes for major theatrical and opera productions.[1] His notable credits include:

  • Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny's Le cadi dupé at the Paris Spring Festival (1989)[3]
  • Richard Strauss's Salome at the Montpellier Festival (1990)[1]

Fragrances

[edit]

In 1994, he established Nikos Parfums and ventured into the perfume industry, introducing his debut fragrance, Sculpture Femme, that same year.[2] This was followed by the commercially successful men's fragrance, Sculpture Homme, in 1995, which was created in partnership with the Lancaster Group and composed by perfumer Michel Almairac.[2]
