Hoshika is an anime and manga tracking software developed by Fonix.[1] It allows users to track their anime and manga viewing and reading progress, write reviews, participate in watch partys, and join clans. The platform is available as a web application and Android app, supporting six languages including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, and English.[2]
As of July 2026, Hoshika's database contains over 31,000 anime entries and 52,000 manga entries.[3] The platform was designed with multi-language support as a core feature, rather than adding translations after launch.[4]
History
[edit]Hoshika was released on June 11, 2026.[5] The platform was developed to address the lack of multi-language support in existing anime tracking services, particularly for Spanish-speaking communities.[6]
In June 2026, Hoshika launched with support for five languages: English, Spanish, French, German, and Brazilian Portuguese.[7] Japanese language support was added in July 2026.[8]
Features
[edit]Tracking
[edit]Hoshika allows users to track anime and manga with five statuses: Watching, Completed, Plan to Watch, On Hold, and Dropped. Users can rate titles on a 10-point scale and track episode progress. The platform also provides statistics including genre breakdowns, score distributions, and time watched.[9]
Import and export
[edit]Users can import their existing libraries from MyAnimeList and AniList with one-click import. Titles are matched by their database IDs, preserving scores, status, and progress. Users can export their lists at any time.[10]
Social features
[edit]Hoshika includes a clan system where users can join or create groups and compete on leaderboards. The platform also features weekly challenges, watch parties with live chat, and per-episode discussions and reviews. Users can write reviews with rich text formatting and share their opinions with the community.[11]
Watch parties
[edit]Watch parties allow users to watch anime in sync with friends and chat live. The system can automatically mark the episode as watched on the user's list when the session ends.[12]
Reviews
[edit]Users can write reviews for anime and manga titles using rich text formatting. Reviews can be shared with the community and other users can rate them.[13]
API
[edit]Hoshika provides a JSON API with OAuth 2.0 authentication, allowing third-party applications to access the platform's database and user data.[14]
Platform
[edit]Hoshika is available as a web application at hoshika.app and as a native Android application. The web version is responsive and works on mobile browsers. The Android application is built with React Native.[15]
Database
[edit]Hoshika's database contains information on anime and manga titles, including synopses, characters, staff, studios, genres, and release dates. As of July 2026, the database includes over 31,000 anime entries and 52,000 manga entries.[16]
Supported languages
[edit]Hoshika is available in six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese. The platform was designed with multi-language support as a core feature, rather than adding translations after launch.[17]
