Grass Patch

[edit]

Grass Patch was an American rock band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, active during the 1990s. The band was associated with South Florida’s independent music scene and released a track on the 1995 split 7-inch A Field Guide to Crop Circle Activity, shared with Milk-Shed and released by Space Cadette Records.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Grass Patch was part of the South Florida underground music scene during the 1990s. In a September 1996 article, Miami New Times described the band as working in a heavier musical style than local punk band Milk-Shed and noted the two groups’ split single on Space Cadette Records.[1]

The band’s documented release, A Field Guide to Crop Circle Activity, was issued in 1995. The record paired Grass Patch with fellow Florida band Milk-Shed and featured elaborate artwork and packaging.[1][2] Grass Patch’s credited track on the split was “Xenogamy.” The tracks “Whoa” and “Live” were credited to Milk-Shed, not Grass Patch.[2]

In an April 2002 article about the Fort Lauderdale band the Remedy Session, Miami New Times described Grass Patch as a noisecore band and reported that it had split up before drummer Alex Osuna and guitarist Chris Polito began working on a new musical project.[3]
