About
[edit]Dying Diva was an Italian metalcore and trancecore band formed in Rome, active from 2007 to 2010. They released the album "A Sunday Walk On Murder Avenue" in 2009.
History
[edit]The band originated from a meeting on MySpace between singer-songwriter Val Monteleone and guitarist/producer-composer Angelo Bacchini; together, they decided to collaborate on a new project that would feel fresher and more modern than their previous work. Within a few days, the first demos were ready, and the lineup was completed by guitarist Alessandro Di Clemente, bassist Alessandro Angelo, drummer Andrea De Carolis, and DJ Mirko Passeri. Their first tracks released on MySpace—"Zombies Ate My Neighbors," "This Is Decadence," and "Phantom Geisha"—garnered immediate attention on the platform. Subsequently, singer and photographer Enrico Caputo and bassist Marco Giuliano joined the group. Enrico’s arrival—handling screaming and rapping—allowed Val to focus on melodic vocals, and the band's irreverent, ironic style truly took shape. While preparing their debut album, they played several shows at top venues in Rome. Their online popularity grew, amassing thousands of streams and downloads worldwide, particularly in the US and Japan. In 2009, they independently released their debut album, *A Sunday Walk on Murder Avenue*, which sold thousands of copies—both physical and via iTunes. They ceased operations in 2010.
Musical Style and Influences
[edit]The band was among the first in the world to blend metal and hardcore with house and trance elements. Each member brought their own influences and background: Val Monteleone came from the Straight Edge hardcore and Swedish death metal scenes, Angelo Bacchini from classic heavy metal, and Enrico from hardcore punk and nu metal. The album *A Sunday Walk on Murder Avenue* features a sound ranging from electro-pop and emocore to rock 'n' roll, rap, and modern metal, culminating in two remixes with a distinct 1980s vibe.
